“The destruction of Pessenta was the direct result of the interference of the demons Ksl and Fnshn. All of the witches involved were killed in the blast while the demons survived, discorporated. Let this be a warning to anyone who thinks a demon is helping them.”
Madatasa, September 3856
Demons, and those who allow themselves to fall under their influence, are the most serious threat, both spiritual and practical, that the world faces. While humans may cause harm through negligence or selfishness, for demons, the harm itself is always the goal. Humanity hangs in the balance between the influence of Heaven and Hell, and it is up to us to faithfully follow the teachings of Heaven and God's great plan for us.
Demons are capable of disguising themselves almost perfectly in human form, leaving their behaviours and forged identities as the only ways of identifying them. The Commission works tirelessly to identify undercover demons, but constant vigilance on the part of ordinary citizens is necessary as well since they cannot be everywhere at once. When undercover, demons always use pseudonyms, since their actual names have a distinct identifiable style (with syllabic consonants instead of vowels).
When they identify a vulnerable target, demons may attempt to make witches of them, luring them in with promises of unnatural gifts. If these deals seem tempting, consider the fate of the cabal of witches who destroyed Pessenta. It is not known what Ksl offered them, but whatever it was, they were betrayed, killed along with the rest of their city, whose ruins remain uninhabitable even to this day. If these witches, all brilliant scientists and engineers, were not able to get the better end of a deal with a demon, what chance do you have?
